Canadian politician who was 34th Premier of British Columbia from 2001 to 2011. After he stepped down from that post, he became Canadian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 2011. He was the executive assistant to the mayor of Vancouver from 1972 to 1976, and he later became mayor in Vancouver himself from 1986 to 1993.
