Orioles first baseman Chris Davis should be back from the 10-day disabled list when play resumes after the All-Star break July 14. Manager Buck Showalter told reporters in Milwaukee Davis will play one game each for Class-A Frederick and Low-A Delmarva during the break.
Since Davis left the Orioles' June 12 game with a with a strained right oblique, the team has gone 9-13. Davis was batting .226 with 14 home runs, 26 RBIs and a league-leading 95 strikeouts in 61 games.
The injury should at least save Davis from a third straight 200-plus strikeout season, and perhaps the five weeks of rest will enable the slugger to come back stronger.
In 2016, he played much of the season with a hand injury, and during the season's second half, his stats weren't much different from his beginning in 2017.
