Golfer Lyle dies aged 36 after cancer battle
Australian golfer Jarrod Lyle has lost his 20-year battle with cancer.
Lyle first had leukaemia diagnosed as a teenager and today his wife, Briony, announced his death at the age of 36.
'It breaks my heart to tell everyone that Jarrod is no longer with us,' she said. 'He passed away peacefully last night having spent his final week among his family and close friends.
'Lusi, Jemma [the couples' daughters] and I are filled with grief and now must confront our lives without the greatest husband and father we could ever have wished for.'
Lyle had undergone a bone marrow transplant last year but decided with doctors to end his treatment last week.
His countryman Jason Day was among those to lead the tributes. He said: 'Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Jarrod Lyle. Jarrod will forever be an inspiration to us all. Rest easy, mate. We will miss you.'....
