An author, journalist, and screenwriter, he is known for such nonfiction works as The Fear: Robert Mugabe and the Martyrdom of Zimbabwe and When a Crocodile Eats the Sun. His acclaimed 1997 memoir, Mukiwa: A White Boy in Africa, describes his early experience of the Rhodesian Bush War. He studied at both Cambridge and Oxford, focusing on international relations and law.
