Speedy and versatile NHL center who began his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011. He was selected to his first NHL All-Star game during the 2014-15 season. At the start of his career, he played for both the Western Hockey League team the Portland Winterhawks and the British Columbia Hockey League team the Penticton Vees.
