A nonfiction author, television writer and producer, and amateur tennis player, he was the son of the famous Groucho Marx. He published several memoirs detailing his relationship with his father; these include Life with Groucho (1954) and Son of Groucho (1972). He was an amateur tennis star during his high school years. After attending the University of Southern California, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
