British dystopian author who wrote the classic novels, Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm. His other works include an acclaimed autobiographical account of the Spanish Civil War and multiple, politically and culturally-themed essays. He was born in British-controlled India, and he moved to England at the age of one. As a boy, he loved shooting, birdwatching, and fishing.
