Astronomer and founder of the Skalnate Pleso Observatory in Slovakia. He became famous for his star charts and for his discovery of a comet known as C/1947 F2. He was ill throughout his entire life, so he ended up spending a lot of his time in the High Tatra Mountains of Slovakia.
