Known for such poetic, experimental, and violent dramas as Blasted and 4.48 Psychosis, this late 20th-century British playwright also penned a racial-violence-themed short film titled Skin. She earned a degree in drama from Bristol University and subsequently studied dramatic writing at the University of Birmingham. Her first play, Blasted, premiered in 1995 at London's Royal Court Theatre Upstairs.
