Spanish businesswoman and entrepreneur who in 1975 co-founded the Zara retail chain, which would grow to become the world's largest fashion retailer. She dropped out of school at age 11 to work as a sales assistant in a clothing shop and eventually started designing her own gowns and lingerie in her house.
