Watch: Nick Saban gets direct with reporter after Bryce Young comment

Bryce Young hasn't yet started a college game, but many consider Alabama's sophomore quarterback to be one of the nation's most talented players heading into the 2021 season. Nick Saban likes what he sees from the former five-star thus far this spring, but assumptions surrounding his development need not be said.

Saban made his point clear to a reporter on Thursday after he was asked about Young and his play thus far heading into Saturday's spring game.

"I just said Bryce is going to play with the 1s, aight, so that's the way it's going to be," Saban said, beginning at 6:31 in the video. "How do you know that he has progressed the way he has been? What have you seen to be able to make that statement first of all? I'm happy with his progress first of all, but I don't know where you sort of can just up and make that statement.

"But I'm happy with his progress. I think he's played well this spring. I think he's showed good leadership. He's made good progress. I think he understands the offense. He's worked hard. I can make the statement because I've watched him practice every day, but I don't know how much practice you saw."
