Joe Bidens leaders summit on climate change live updates

US President Joe Biden’s climate summit started on Thursday with hopes of securing pledges from dozens of world leaders to cut heat-trapping gas emissions and curb global warming.

Mr Biden is expected to unveil new carbon-emission targets as part of the two-day virtual Leaders Summit on Climate and pledge money to help smaller economies fight climate change and adapt to a warmer planet.

The US also wants its guests — from China to Russia, India, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other big economies — to follow suit and scale up plans for cutting pollution and preventing climate-related issues.
