Jets QB Tim Boyle 5 things to know about Zach Wilsons replacement

Head coach Robert Saleh announced on Monday that Zach Wilson had been benched and that the team was starting Tim Boyle at QB on Black Friday against the Miami Dolphins. The Jets (4-6) have lost three games in a row and rank 30th in the NFL in points per game. Saleh said New York's offensive struggles aren't entirely on Wilson, though the time had come to give someone else an opportunity to run the offense.

And that someone is a 29-year-old longtime backup. Boyle, in his first season with the Jets, was released by the franchise at the end of the preseason, then eventually landed on the team's practice squad. The Jets signed Boyle to their roster after Aaron Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon in the season-opener. And now it's Boyle's turn to try to elevate a struggling Jets offense.

"I think a part of my strength is being able to get the ball out of my hands quick, and the decisiveness, I think, is a part of my game that I lean on," Boyle told reporters Sunday night.

The Jets host the Dolphins (7-3) at 3 p.m. ET on Black Friday. Miami enters the game, which will air on Prime Video, as a 10-point favorite, according to Caesars Sportsbook.
