From Vine To Spotify: Tatiana Manaois On The Rise | LA Music Blog

A few years ago I had a very brief fling with the social media website Vine. The few weeks I had the app on my phone I saw funny cat videos, teen personalities, and more memes lived out in 6-second videos than I can recall. However, the one Vine artist (Viner?) that stuck with me was a girl who released flawless covers of everyone from Chris Brown to Justin Bieber. Her name is Tatiana Manaois.

Listening to Manaois sing the lyrics of songs by artists I didn’t even know I liked intrigued me. She drew me in with both her flawless taste in music and incredible voice. Sadly, my break up with Vine (we grew apart and wanted different things) left me missing out on all the postings of my favorite social media songbird. Then I Googled her and found out that she posted most of her videos on Twitter. Her covers were like lyrical heartbeats to me, so imagine my joy when I found out she had original music as well!

The first Tatiana Manaois track I found on YouTube, “Helplessly,” is a beautiful acoustic song featuring a style of finger picking that makes me long to hold a guitar even though I know a grand total of four chords. The song is about being distracted by a certain somebody and not being able to get them out of your head. From the lyrics to the music, it is one of the best songs about having a crush that I have ever heard.

Tatiana has since released a few songs under Taste Records, and you should look them up. This artist has the voice of Priscilla Ahn and the storytelling lyrical style of Taylor Swift. The lyrics from her most recent release, “Like You,” say it all:
