Former President George H.W. Bush and Wife Barbara Hospitalized in Houston

Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush was admitted to the intensive care unit at Houston Methodist Hospital on Wednesday to be treated for an “acute respiratory problem,” Bush’s spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement via Twitter.

Bush’s wife, Barbara, was also admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital on Wednesday, “as a precaution after experiencing fatigue and coughing,” McGrath added.

According to McGrath, the 41st President of the United States and father of former President George W. Bush, underwent “a procedure to protect and clear his airway that required sedation.”
