Alex Pietrangelo Reportedly Set To Be Named New Blues Captain
The St. Louis Blues saw captain David Backes walk away from the Central Division club in free agency this summer, signing instead with the Boston Bruins out on the East Coast. As a result, the team needed to name a new captain – and with just under two months left until the start of the new season, it seems the team has come to a decision on who that will be.
According to Jeremy Rutherford of the Post-Dispatch, the team is set to make a major announcement on Thursday. Per Rutherford, that announcement will be that Alex Pietrangelo, the teams 26-year-old defenseman and former fourth overall pick, is being named captain for the 2016-17 season.
