Bio:
Children's author and illustrator who created the best-selling picture book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Also the author of The Grouchy Ladybug and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, he was the 2003 recipient of the prestigious Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for Children's Literature. When he was fifteen years old and living in Germany with his family during the World War II years, he was forced to dig trenches for the German Army.
