British-born granddaughter of Queen Victoria who became the last queen of Romania as the wife of King Ferdinand I. During World War I, she worked as a nurse and became a national icon. She was called "Mother of the Wounded" and "The Soldier Queen." She was baptised in the private chapel of Windsor Castle.
