American politician who is best known for serving as the U.S. representative for Indiana's 7th congressional district since 2008. He is a member of the Democratic Party and his district includes the northern four-fifths of Indianapolis. He became the dean of Indiana's congressional delegation after Representative Pete Visclosky retired in 2021. He is a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Management from Concordia University-Wisconsin and a Master's in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
