Breaking through in the role of Dr. Maggie Lin on the Canadian medical drama Saving Hope, Julia would make her feature film debut a year prior to taking on her famed TV role in the horror film Silent House. She began her collegiate education at University College London, and then attended Harvard University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History of Art and Architecture.
