The eldest child of the Bates Family, the titular stars of the UpTV reality series Bringing Up Bates. His parents, eighteen siblings, and other extended family members make up the cast of the popular reality show. In 2010, he became the youngest person in Anderson County ever to be elected county commissioner-elect. He later went on to run for mayor in 2014.
