A Mexican politician active since 1994, she was elected to the Senate in 2012, where she serves as the chair for the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations, Anti-Corruption, and National Defense. She is part of the Partido Accion National, also referred to as PAN, a right leaning party in Mexico. She studied at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in political science and public administration and a Master's in government and public affairs. She decided to become involved in politics, and more specifically in the Partido Accion National during the 1994 presidential campaign for Diego Fernandez de Cevallos.
