English children's author most famous for writing the award-winning fantasy series The Last Dragon Chronicles. He is the author of more than twenty novels, including Gruffen, which won the Books Factor Award in 2010. He earned a Biology degree from the University of York. He later worked in the Pre-Clinical Sciences department at the University of Leicester.
