Also a novelist, short story writer, and physicist, he is best known as the premiere Estonian playwright of the mid-Twentieth Century. His popular dramas include Scenes From the Hundred Years' War, Return to Father, and The Philosopher's Day. He won the 1993 Tuglas Award for The Life of an Eternal Physicus.
