Composer, violinist, conductor, and member of Egypt's second generation of classical composers. He was noted for his monodic music, which he began composing around 1950. He studied music at the Fuad I Institute for Traditional Music. He played with the orchestras that served as accompaniment for Mohamed Abdel-Wahab and Umm Kulthum.
