American poet and Guggenheim Fellowship recipient known for Blue Dusk, Magpie on the Gallows, and other works. She received the Washington State Book Award for poetry for a 2006 collection entitled Spectral Waves. She received degrees from Marylhurst College and the University of Oregon. She published her debut poetry collection, From the Darkroom, in 1964.
