Modernist artist who painted brightly colored landscapes and uniquely angled scenes of Zagreb. He preferred to express himself through oils and pastels and became known for the subtleties of his color harmonies and his dynamic approach to brushstrokes. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Zagreb, in 1930. He joined the Earth Group during the decade that ensued.
