Prominent jazz stride artist who worked with musicians like Sidney Bechet, George Lewis, Bunk Johnson, Kid Ory, and Muggsy Spanier. He formed his own trios in Baltimore during the 1930s. He played a role in the New Orleans jazz revival in the mid-1940s.
