Lawyer and Republican politician who served on the Louisiana State Senate from 2005 to 2012. She took office less than a month before Hurricane Katrina devastated areas surrounding the Louisiana district (District 6) that she represented. After studying journalism at Louisiana State University, she earned a law degree from New Orleans' Loyola University.
