Muckraking newspaper columnist who wrote about such Washington scandals as Watergate, the alleged Mafia ties of J. Edgar Hoover, and a CIA plan to kill Cuban leader Fidel Castro. At age twelve, he penned a column for a Utah Boy Scouts publication. He later wrote for The Salt Lake Tribune and served in World War II.
