Diplomat, farmer, and writer who was a believer in overseas aid and served as a First Secretary at the Nairobi Embassy, Charge d'Affaires at Chad, and Counsellor in Paris. He first entered the Diplomatic service as the resident Deputy Middle Eastern Secretary at the Foreign Office.
