English soccer player who became known as one of the best defenders in Premiere League while playing for Tottenham Hotspur. He retired from the sport following a long battle with knee injuries in July 2012. He was born in Bow, London and attended the now-defunct Blessed John Roche RC School. He joined the youth squad of Tottenham Hotspur in 1996 and made his senior debt in 1999.
