Most famous for his New York Times bestselling young adult novel Thirteen Reasons Why (which focuses on the suicide of a teenage girl), Asher is also known for a 2011, co-written work titled The Future of Us. After graduating from California's Cuesta Community College and before pursuing a full-time writing career, he briefly studied elementary education at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.
