Political activist who operated a hostel for Czechoslovakian refugees during World War II and later became a key figure in the establishment of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. When she was seventeen years old, she became a member of the Labour Party and quickly became involved in the 1926 General Strike and in the 1936 Battle of Cable Street.
