Modernist poet and author who is remembered for Lady Chatterley's Lover, The Rainbow, Women in Love, and other novels. His works of short fiction include The Rocking-Horse Winner and Odour of Chrysanthemums. He studied at Nottingham High School, but left school in 1901 to work at a factory that produced surgical tools.
