The American author of the famous Jerry Todd series of young adult novels, he is also known for his Andy Blake, Poppy Ott, and Tuffy Bean books. His work was especially popular during the 1920s and '30s. In spite of his mother's early discouragement of his writing career, he rose to prominence as a commercial writer and jingle composer.
