Pioneer in kickboxing for heavyweight fighters in K-1, a division in which he won Japan Grand Prix Championships in 1997 and 1998. As a MMA fighter, he never achieved much success with a 1-8-1 total record. He made his debut in kickboxing well before MMA in 1990 and was victorious over Don Nakaya Nielsen in his first match. He was defeated in his first MMA fight in 2000 by Mark Coleman.
