Republican politician who was a United States Senator from Minnesota from 2003 to 2009. He was also the 52nd Mayor of St. paul from 1994 to 2002. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1976 and worked as the chief prosecutor and later as the solicitor general in the Minnesota Attorney General's office.
