Lithuanian politician who was known as one of the most important Lithuanian political figures between World War I and World War II. He served as the first President of Lithuania from 1919 to 1920, and then again from 1926 to 1940. He was the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Lithuanian Relief Society during World War I.
