German forward who scored the winning goal in the final game of the 1954 FIFA World Cup. He spent the bulk of his club career with Germany's Rot-Weiss Essen, scoring 88 goals in 201 appearances. He spent his youth career with SV Altenessen, SC Oelde, and Sportfreund Katernberg.
