Famous for Vaquero, Man on Fire, and other boldly colored fiberglass artworks with Latino and Southwestern American themes, this Mexican-American sculptor received a 1993 New Mexico Governor's Award for his artistic accomplishments. After studying at both the University of Texas-El Paso and the University of Texas-Austin, he taught in the art departments at the University of Houston and the University of Arizona.
