15th overall selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings who debuted with the team on opening night 2015 as a 19 year old, the first 19 year old to debut on opening night since 1990-91. He was the NHL Rookie of the Month in November 2015. He joined Team USA's under-17 team in firs debut season with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. He returned for the under-18 team.
