From 1983 until 2009, this Republican Party politician served Illinois' 51st district in the State Senate, holding the positions of Assistant Majority Leader (during the late '90s and early '00s) and Senate Republican Leader (from 2002 to 2008). After earning his bachelor's degree from Purdue University, he became the chief pharmacist at his family's drugstore in Greenville, Illinois.
