Armenian-Ethiopian painter and art teacher who became the first contemporary African artist whose work was acquired by the Musee d Art Moderne in Paris. He was awarded second prize at Haile Selassie I's Jubilee Anniversary Celebration in 1954. This honor allowed him to secure a scholarship to continue his studies in Europe.
