British poet whose best-known works include Side Effects and From Me To You: Love Poems. Shortly after publishing a collection entitled Queueing for the Sun, she received the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry. She studied at St. Anne's College, Oxford. She published her debut work, Side Effects, in 1978.
