Jazz drummer who played with The Dave Brubeck Quartet. With the band, he performed such famous and rhythmically innovative numbers as "Blue Rondo a la Turk" and "Take Five." He started playing music when he was six years old; his first instrument was the violin. He was later a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
