A Twentieth-century American historian, he is best known for his three-volume biography of U.S. President Andrew Jackson. While other Jackson historians took a broader view of the president's life, Remini meticulously chronicled the seventh U.S. president's private and public life. He graduated from Fordham University and went on to received his PhD from Columbia. For many years, he taught history at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
