British abstract and landscape poet and literary critic associated with The Movement in twentieth- century English poetry. His numerous publications include Events & Wisdoms, These the Companions, and To Scorch or Freeze. He studied at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge and served in the British Navy in Russia during World War II.
