Political journalist and profiler who is largely known for his independent and objective writing style. He has served as the Washington, D.C. correspondent for the New Yorker magazine, where he has gained renown for his "Letter to Washington" column. He earned his dual Bachelor of Arts degree in English and mass communications from the University of California, Berkeley in 1997. He began his journalism career at the Center for Investigative Reporting.
