Author who is best known for The Saga of Darren Shan, The Demonata, and other young adult fiction series. His works for older readers include The City Book Trilogy and The Thin Executioner. He began writing at age fourteen, and at fifteen, was the runner-up in a script-writing contest for Ireland's RTE television network. He received degrees in English and sociology from Roehampton University in London, England.
